Cutting edge typography

We're just crazy about typography here at The Elk Group and we have another inspiring individual with mind blowing talent.

Sean Freeman is an amazing designer located in East London who specialises in building type with every day materials such as rope, tree branches, coins and more! His exploration into different textures and objects creates a stimulating variety of artwork-like pieces that would compliment any living room wall. But there's no need to exhaust millions of dollars to get a piece of Freeman as his work features in many magazines such as The New York Times, Time Out, The Guardian and Digital Arts. We can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Ever wondered what happens when you fuse architecture into typography?

Maybe not, but we have stumbled upon the very talented London based designer Chris Labrooy who obviously has. His work is brilliant and we just had to share it with you.

Chris’ out of the ordinary design skills take designing typography to a whole new level. Inspired by award winning architecture, Labrooy adapts building structures and facades into typography. These letters when put together to form a word become a microcosmic land where alphabets become habitable. His three dimensional renders look so real you would almost believe they existed.

She's just my type

Custom typography is something that most of us have come across, whether doodling your high school romance in your diary or spelling out your name using McDonald's fries. While many of us haven't advanced past the fries, there are individuals who live and breathe type like Jessica Hische. Based in New York, she fell into custom typography when she couldn't afford to purchase fonts in her college days. Hische's skill in creating balanced and beautiful typefaces is certainly an art in itself. From ribbon type to "buttermilk" font, each piece has it's own flair and personality. It's always a pleasure to feature someone so young and talented.
